Features & Capabilities

AVSub is a universal iOS app that serves as a SubSonic client, delivering music and video with support for multiple formats (including FLAC), fast browsing, and offline caching.

It offers CarPlay, Bluetooth Audio, AirPlay, and an Apple Watch extension for background playback. Cache management, Subsonic playlist support, folder/ID3 browsing, and optional integrations (TMDb posters, VLC, Google Cast, and Amazon Fire TV) extend your library with high‑resolution audio and SSL.

User Reviews

The UI is dated and not intuitive. Worst issue however is every time I try to play something it crashes to the Home Screen. Have to reopen the app and then it lets me restart playback and works.

I’ve been a subscriber for gosh probably 8-10 years now. This is my #1 app without really a close second. Developer is still updating the UI and adding formatting options and he’s a good bloke to boot. If there’s a preferred server for my 2017 iMac over Subsonic I’d love to hear about it. Happy user 🙏🏻

This app isn’t perfect though it does a decent job with most features that I use. I use internet radio and that works well but it would be nice if next and previous on the wheel changed the channel, though I don’t know if that is possible with subsonic. Caching is working again. After v.24 the cache failed me, though the failure was due to a 10 hour file was saved to the cache causing it to crash if you tried to open the cache once saved. Smaller files worked properly.
