User Reviews

Reviews consistently praise Tuta for its privacy-first approach, ease of use, and cross-device performance, but repeatedly note login/recovery issues, weak support, and UX friction from ads and gesture controls.
Pros
  • Strong emphasis on privacy and security, with users praising privacy-focused features.
  • Easy to use and user-friendly interface.
  • Reliable performance and stability across mobile and desktop.
  • Cross-platform availability, with solid iOS and Android support.
Cons

I have been using Tuta email for several years and everything about it is great. I love it.

Absolute nightmare of an app. If you don't log into a free account for 6 months, Tuta completely purges it. Because I used this email as the recovery key for my UniFi network infrastructure, I am now completely locked out of my hardware.  To make it worse, their policy is to never recycle addresses, meaning the ONLY way to get my email back to receive my security codes is to create a new paid subscription. They are literally holding my deleted digital identity hostage for a ransom fee.  Forcing users into a paid tier to resolve a lockout caused by their own aggressive deletion policy is a toxic user experience. Go to Proton instead—they actually respect their users and don't create digital emergencies like this. Avoid Tuta at all costs.
