Walking Distance Tracker

Walk Mileage Tracking by Vima

Features & Capabilities

Vima's Walking Distance Tracker is a GPS-based app built for simplicity and reliable walking metrics. It lets walkers track distance, speed, time, and altitude while keeping the interface distraction-free. With Apple Watch support, you can start, pause, resume, and save a walk without pulling your phone from your pocket, and you can view real-time stats right on your wrist.

Saved walks are color-coded by speed on the map so you can easily see where you were fastest (green) and slowest (red). Features include voice progress updates, split times across multiple distances, calories burned (adjustable weight in settings), shoe-tracking reminders, and social sharing to Facebook or Twitter. It supports standard and metric units and integrates with Apple Health for enhanced data. A note on battery usage and links to terms and privacy policy are included.

User Reviews

Reviewers praise the app for its ease of use, map view, and useful walking metrics, including premium features like audio and long-term history. However, recurring issues include inaccurate distance measurements and detours, GPS drops with auto-start/stop problems, intrusive upgrade prompts, lack of manual edit capability for distances, and occasional history data loss. Overall, the app is attractive for simple tracking but reliability and onboarding friction limit its usefulness.
Pros
  • Quick-start, easy-to-use interface with no login required
  • Map view visualizes your route and walk metrics
  • Provides distance, time, and progress metrics for each walk
  • Premium features add audio feedback and long-term history (weekly/monthly/yearly)
  • Data is accessible and the front screen can be customized
Cons
  • Inaccurate and inconsistent distance measurements and routes (rogue detours, squiggly paths)
  • GPS signal drops and auto-start/stop glitches that halt tracking
  • Intrusive upsell prompts to upgrade and persistent ads with no easy close option
  • Inability to manually edit or correct distance after a walk
  • History data can skip days or be lost, reducing reliability

I used to like this app, but in the past few months I’ve had trouble with it. The auto-start/stop feature can be problematic. I’ve had it pause when I stopped, but instead of resuming tracking my progress, it just stopped. If I didn’t catch it to restart, my progress wouldn’t be tracked. And, it doesn’t allow for editing when this happens, nor when it incorrectly calculates the distance. (I’ve gotten different distance results for the same trail and identical stop and start points. I’ve cancelled my subscription

I have enjoyed using this app for several years until recently. All of a sudden now when I turn on the app it wants me to sign up for “premium” acct … I don’t want to as have been pleased with my $4.99 annual fee as I do not use it all the time. I cannot find any way to bypass it this annoying add and start tracking my walks when I want to. No “x” to close the ad. HELP! Really upset!!!!
