User Reviews

Users praise NoMachine for reliable, cross‑device remote access and broad OS support, including Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, and iPad, with easy setup and a free trial. The app is valued for working well across home and work scenarios and for responsive developer support in getting issues resolved. Major drawbacks repeatedly mentioned are UI/display problems on iPad with iOS/iPadOS 16, including broken rendering, partial screens, and inaccessible controls. Keyboard/input issues on iPad and Stage Manager, plus inconsistent maintenance and slow or missing responses to issues, harm usability for updated iOS devices.
Pros
  • Reliable remote access with solid performance across Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, and iPad.
  • Broad device/OS support and seamless operation across hardware and networks (including VPNs and cellular).
  • Free version and trial available.
  • Easy connection and setup.
  • Responsive developer support that helps resolve issues.
Cons
  • Major UI/display breakage on iPad/iOS 16, causing unusable or partial screens.
  • Keyboard/input issues on iPad (Magic Keyboard not registering keys; trackpad works but inputs may fail; Stage Manager limitations).
  • Inconsistent maintenance and slow or missing responses to issues.
  • Startup/intro screens, freezing, and other rendering problems (broken or blocked UI on launch).

I used it to access my home desktop from my office for a whole week and loved it. Thank you for the trial. I’m willing to pay for a year of service but only if I can purchase it through the Apple App Store instead of entering my credit card information through the developers website. I’ll be back when that’s possible.

When I first tried this service, I could not get it to work. But the developers responded to my review and we exchanged emails and we got it working on my systems! I will always respect active and responsive owners of services. The issue I was facing was not opening a port on the computer I was connecting to, doing that allowed me to connect when it was failing to before.

I’m not sure if people were experiencing old bugs which have been patched, or if consumerism really has addled the minds of all. This app is FREE and works VERY well for what it is. If it works with iOS 26 upon release then I might even consider donating to the dev. I’m not sure why people are giving negative reviews. Once you learn the ins and outs of how to interact with the app(might already be obvious to you if you’re in networking, I am not and relied heavily on GPT to set up a Linux vm on a VPS etc) I use my iPad to access VM through this app predominantly, and I’m super pleased with it as a whole. I connected a K10HE wireless keyboard and an M7 wireless mouse to the iPad Air (M2 chipset) and they work beautifully inside of NoMachine as well. I haven’t yet noticed any dead clicks or keystrokes. The only negative thing I could possibly say if I really wanted to nitpick, is that on a headless Linux vm the free version is locked to 800x600. There’s even a workaround for that as well so it’s honestly more of a nitpick than a negative. I mean, they have to incentivize you to buy the app somehow 😂
