User Reviews

Ninox is a powerful, highly customizable relational database app with a strong feature set. It offers excellent cross-device syncing (iCloud) across Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and performs well on iPad with relational tables and forms. It benefits from regular updates and drag-and-drop for documents, making it a capable mobile database solution. Cons: Users report performance degradation in recent versions, with long load times. Documentation is weak and support can be inconsistent. Pricing and cloud costs are high for personal use. UI/UX issues and accessibility concerns persist on iPad, and updates occasionally cause bugs.
Pros
  • Powerful, flexible relational database with extensive customization and real-world feature set.
  • Excellent cross-device syncing via iCloud across Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
  • Strong iPad/iOS support with powerful tables, forms, and relational capabilities; good for mobile database work.
  • Regular updates and useful document drag-and-drop support.
Cons
  • Performance degradation in recent versions and slow startup/navigation across devices.
  • Weak documentation and inconsistent support resources.
  • High price and costly cloud services for personal use.
  • UI/UX accessibility issues on iPad and occasional update-borne bugs that disrupt workflow.

I dropped my rating from May 2025 by two stars due to degradation of performance in newest Ninox Versions. I am strictly a native app user on my Mac, iPad, & iPhone and using iCloud to sync between them. I’m also on latest iOS/iPadOS. A year ago, opening Ninox was nearly instantaneous, allowing access to my database list, then nearly instantaneous opening any of my databases using a single click. Database manipulation once in your DB was snappy! That’s all changed! Getting to my database list now takes nearly a minute, regardless of whether you are opening Ninox or closing one database to get to a different one. That’s like a couple of centuries of CPU time on an app that is not dependent on a WiFi connection to a server. Then after getting to my database list, opening a database often takes nearly another half a minute! I’ve asked Support to comment on this severe degradation in performance days ago and not received any explanation. Given Ninox’s blazing speed in the past and current poor performance, I’m being generous in giving the app 3/5. If you’ve the patience to wait, Ninox still works effectively, although slower. Hoping for some updates that restore Ninox’s past performance!

After spending time getting forms to look as I want on my iPad, each new version of Ninox seems to mess them up. The developer makes needed and welcomed improvements, but at the cost of user experience.

I have the application for my iMac and my iPhone/iPad. I love this application. I created my own database for tracking my health and medical appointments and the related bills to those. I had tried another application called Tidy Health, but that doesn’t seem to be a relational database and required multiple uploads of the same files and different areas. I love being able to customize the database to what I need.
