User Reviews

Gadget 3 is a powerful, portable iPad DAW with a vast sound library, inspiring workflow, and strong MIDI/Logic Pro integration. Users praise on-the-go creativity, high-quality gadgets, and ongoing updates. Recurrent concerns focus on sample-bank reliability (Bilbao) and missing features like AUv3 external synth support and per-sample drum FX. A few request improvements for autosave/undo and workflow refinements, but the app remains a favored tool for many producers.
Pros
  • Massive, high-quality instrument library across gadgets with versatile sounds.
  • Inspiration-driven workflow that lets you compose anywhere; an inspiring tool for creativity.
  • Portable, visually appealing DAW on iPad that supports on-the-go production.
  • Strong MIDI integration and ability to use Gadget instruments as plugins in Logic Pro.
  • Active development with frequent gadget releases and sound packs to expand the toolkit.
Cons
  • Sample banks (Bilbao) can disappear or fail to load after closing the app; iCloud-synced samples loading can be unreliable.
  • Missing features cited by users include external AUv3 synth support and per-sample drum FX, indicating gaps in current capabilities.

Been with this app for years and absolutely love it. If anything, I would love to see more sample library options for Sydney, Stockholm, Bilbao and Abu Dhabí gadgets. We have enough instruments already, this device would benefit greatly with more character from samples… good ones, not repeats of someone rerecording samples of Korg Gadget instruments.

I have spent so much money on Korg Hardware, Apps, Gadgets, and Expansions. It would be really nice to separate the store and any Gadgets I haven’t used from the Gadget Selection screen. I feel like I’m being forced to buy every single instrument even though I really have no use for the vintage video game ones, it would be nice not to have these distractions while working on Music. It would also be nice to discount the Mac version for iOS owners who have spent over $200 in Gadgets and Expansions. Your response makes it seems like you are not even reading or listening to what I said. You should still be able to have a separate part of the Gadgets app for buying new gadgets, just like your other apps have a separate store section and don’t have to see things they haven’t purchased when scrolling through expansions they have purchased. I should be able to go through the gadgets I’ve purchased without being forced to see all the overpriced 8 bit video game gadgets I have no want or need for.

I made my first complete Korg Gadget project twelve years ago on a second generation iPad. All these years later I have over 100 "keeper" Gadget projects - 5+ hours of music. I have DAWs (including the Mac version of Gadget) and a ton of soft synths, but Gadget on my iPad is my go-to composition tool. It is an inspiration machine that lets me compose anywhere my muse strikes. Now on an m4 iPad, I am grateful that Korg continues to release new Gadgets and sound packs that help me bust out of a rut. Korg synths have always sounded great, and the pairing with the Keystage 49 is just brilliant.
