Why won’t it let me operate on it. Is it a must i become a paid user before I could use the app?

So this app appears to do things. But so far all I have been able to do is connect an account. Start a free trial and now it’s in a death lock on a screen to immediately start a paid subscription (it’s only been 30 minutes in of the 7 day trial. ) I have yet to check an email, test any features, see if this is the solution that I have been searching for. And the thing that has me most annoyed is the “welcome “ to the app offered a year for just $99. Not bad. But to get past the “I want my $2” lock screen to actually use the app, it’s $148 for the year. I would like to point out I did attempt to reach out to support but it kept taking me back to the app that’s got a one track mind.
