Features & Capabilities

Moa shows each number next to what it actually means, whether that's your recent range or the research it comes from. Nothing gets rounded off just to look tidy.

Moa is a health dashboard built on top of Apple Health. It takes the steps, sleep, and heart data your iPhone and Apple Watch already collect and shows it back to you as numbers you can actually make sense of, each one next to what it means for you specifically.

MOVEMENT Steps, cardio and strength minutes, distance, active energy. Each one is measured against its own weekly target, 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity and 60 minutes of strength training, both pulled from published research. Today's workouts show duration, calories, average heart rate, and time spent in each heart rate zone.

REST Sleep duration, bedtime, wake time, and how consistent your schedule actually is. On top of the basic hours, Moa calculates a Sleep Regularity Index, since recent research suggests that how consistent your sleep schedule is matters almost as much as how long you sleep.

HEART & VITALS Resting heart rate, HRV, heart rate recovery, walking speed, VO2 max, and heart rate zones, all compared against your own recent history rather than a generic population average.

RECOVERY A short, plain read on how your usual recovery signals are doing today. Something like "close to normal" or "a little different than usual," in words instead of a score. It won't tell you whether to train hard or rest. It just lays out what your body is showing so you can decide.

ACTIVITY INDEX Steps, cardio minutes, strength minutes, and sleep, each measured against its own research backed weekly target rather than blended into a single number.

YOUR OWN RANGE, NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S A lot of the numbers in Moa come with a small dot on a line underneath them. That dot marks where today's value sits between the low and high of your own recent history, so you can tell at a glance if today is on the quieter end, the busier end, or somewhere in the middle for you specifically. A resting heart rate that's low might be a great sign. A step count that's low probably isn't. So Moa doesn't try to color code these the same way. It just shows you where today falls, and lets you read it in context.

Research citations for the targets used throughout the app, the cardio guideline, the step count research, the sleep duration range, the strength training target, are all explained in an in app tooltip with the actual study behind it, so you can see where the number comes from rather than just trusting it.

There's also a short daily check in, using the same five point health rating scale that's been used in health research for decades, so how you actually feel is part of the picture too.

Moa reads its data from Apple Health and runs entirely on your device. It doesn't have a server, doesn't collect analytics, and doesn't ask you to make an account. Every time you open it, it computes everything fresh from what's already in Health and shows it back to you.

It works with just an iPhone for steps and basic activity. Add an Apple Watch and you get sleep, heart rate, HRV, VO2 max, and heart rate zones too.

Moa is still young and built by one person. If something feels off or missing, I'd genuinely like to hear about it.
