DO I NEED TO TRAVEL? HOW FAR?
Late in the day, with the Sun low, the Moon's shadow crosses mainland Spain and the Balearics, and half the country is left out. Destinations are ranked by what you gain, not by how close they are. The nearest town with totality usually buys you 12 seconds, which is nothing. From Madrid, El Molar is 28 km away and gets 61. From Seville, the nearest 60 seconds is 422 km away, and the app tells you not to go.
STAYING IN MADRID OR BARCELONA?
Madrid reaches 99.9%, Barcelona 99.8%, Seville and Málaga 94.7%. It does not go dark there, the corona never appears, and you must not look without a certified filter at any point. The gap between 99.9% and 100% is not 0.1%: it is seeing it or not seeing it. Half of Spain is in that position: 4,065 of its 8,131 towns get only a partial, a median of 99.3% of the Sun covered. And 99.3% is not "almost totality". It is a different thing.

THE SUN WILL BE VERY LOW. CHOOSE YOUR SPOT
A median of 7.1° above the horizon, and under 10° in 7,638 of Spain's 8,131 towns. At that height a three-story building 80 meters away hides the Sun completely. The app gives you that height in degrees for your town, to check against your own horizon with your own eyes. And something almost nobody mentions: in 6,494 towns the eclipse never ends, the Sun sets first.
GLASSES AND SAFETY
Never look at the Sun without a certified filter. The prompt to take it off appears only where there is totality and only while it lasts long enough to be real. Everywhere else the app says what has to be said: the filter does not come off at any point.
THE CAMERA
Photos come stamped with your town, the exact time and the percentage of the Sun covered. Video is recorded clean, and to share it the app makes the video card: one frame of your clip with the stamp already on it, instantly. Plus an automatic shutter for the minutes that matter, so you are not staring at a screen when you should be looking up. The filter warning stays in front, always.
WHAT USES THE INTERNET, AND WHAT DOES NOT
The eclipse does not. Times, map and all 9,255 towns are computed on the device, so a crowded hilltop with a jammed network changes nothing. One single thing needs a connection, and only if you open it: the cloud report, where people tap to say what is overhead and you see what the towns around you report. Nothing else leaves the phone. Your location, if you give it, stays on the device: only the town name is kept, and you can type it by hand.

Free: the times, the duration, the percentage, total or partial here, the filter warnings, the search, the widgets and the camera with its stamp. Pro is a one-time purchase, no subscription: three develop presets made for eclipse light, your totality photos in a single strip, and the option to remove the stamp.
FIND YOUR TOWN
With its province next to it, because 17 names repeat. And under the names people actually use: type Ibiza, Gerona or San Sebastián and you get Eivissa, Girona and Donostia.
