Features & Capabilities

WLAN Pros Toolbox is a free field companion for Wi-Fi and network professionals. No account. No ads. No tracking. Built by Wireless LAN Professionals.

If you design, install, or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and networks for a living, this is the calculator and reference set you carry in your pocket, plus the live diagnostics you reach for on site. More than 120 tools, organized so you find the one you need fast.

The reference tables and calculators work offline once the app is installed. The active diagnostics need a network connection to do their job. The app shows the tools each platform supports, and on iPhone and iPad some live Wi-Fi details use a companion Apple Shortcut you install once.

CALCULATORS RF and signal math without the spreadsheet:

  • dBm / Watt converter
  • Free Space Path Loss (FSPL)
  • EIRP, Fresnel zone, link budget, fade margin
  • Cable loss, noise floor, RF attenuation by material
  • Antenna downtilt and downtilt coverage
  • ITU rain fade, earth curvature
  • GPS: lat/long conversion, distance and bearing, midpoint, final point
  • Wavelength, metric conversion, hex / ASCII / binary
  • PoE budget, throughput by MCS, capacity planning, point-to-point link check

LIVE DIAGNOSTICS The active tools for the field:

  • Interface information: local IPs, gateway, DNS, link details
  • Ping (ICMP and TCP), ping sweep, traceroute
  • DNS lookup over DNS-over-HTTPS (A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, PTR, SRV, CAA, SPF)
  • WHOIS, BGP / ASN lookup, IP geolocation
  • Port scan, SSL/TLS certificate inspection, HTTP header inspection
  • Network discovery, ARP/NDP neighbor lookup, MAC vendor OUI lookup
  • Wake-on-LAN, packet sender
  • Network quality: latency, jitter, loss, throughput, and reachability checks
  • Wi-Fi information: live link details for the connected network

CHECK MY CONNECTION A plain-language helper that answers one question for anyone, not just pros: is it your Wi-Fi or your internet? Start here when someone hands you a slow connection and wants an answer.

QUICK REFERENCE The tables you keep looking up:

  • 802.11 standards, MCS index, Wi-Fi channels, channel bonding map
  • Signal thresholds, roaming parameters, AP placement guidance
  • WPA security matrix, 802.11 reason codes, frame exchange
  • PoE class and wattage, well-known ports
  • Cabling: Ethernet pinout, Ethernet cable, coax, fiber, RF connectors
  • dB reference, spectrum allocations, OSI model, Wi-Fi glossary

REFERENCE AND LAB HOW-TOS

  • Network CLI commands (Windows and macOS/Linux)
  • Linux and WLAN commands, monitor mode
  • Wireshark 802.11 display and capture filters (reference cheat sheets, not a packet capture)
  • Educational resources from independent Wi-Fi authors
  • Field checklists for AP install and client testing
