WHY MU PLATE

• Photo to plate-count in one tap. Mu Plate uses Google's Gemini AI to identify what's on your plate, estimate portions, and count calories.
• Honest about uncertainty. The result sheet shows confidence per item and surfaces caveats when lighting was poor or portions are hard to read. AI estimates can be off 15–20% — we don't pretend otherwise.
• Local-first. Your food log lives on your iPhone, in SwiftData. We don't sync it to any cloud.
• Your data stays yours. Sign in with Apple is optional — anonymous mode works the same. Photos go to our private proxy, then to Google for inference, then nowhere else.
• Five free scans a day, resetting at your local midnight. Optional Premium unlocks unlimited scans and funds the features the community asks for. No ads, no feed, no tracking — ever.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Tap the camera button on the Today screen.
2. Snap your meal or pick a photo from your library.
3. Wait a beat while Mu Plate analyzes the plate. (You can add a note like "with extra olive oil" to help.)
4. Review per-item calories and macros. Adjust portions with a slider. Remove anything that's wrong.
5. Save. Your day's total updates instantly.

WHAT'S NEXT Future updates will add photo-based persistence, dietary tags (low FODMAP, vegan, halal), and trend charts. We won't add ads. Premium is optional and funds development — the free tier stays genuinely useful. We will keep the app honest.

PRIVACY

• Photos: sent to our private Vercel proxy, then to Google's Gemini API for calorie analysis. Not stored on our server. Not used to train any model by us.
• Food log: lives on your iPhone, never on our server.
• Identity: optional. Anonymous mode is identical functionally.
• No tracking. No analytics SDKs. No advertising.
