Exhale: Stress & Panic Relief

60 seconds: slow, calm breath

Features & Capabilities

Exhale is a paid app, and a subscription is required to use it. New subscribers start with a one-week free trial, then $4.99/month or $24.99/year. The subscription unlocks the entire app — unlimited 60-second guided cyclic-sighing sessions on the one button, plus your optional daily reminder. Nothing is sold separately.

One button. 60 seconds. The kind of breath your body already knows how to take, slowed down on purpose.

Exhale is for the minute right after the meeting goes badly, the text lands wrong, the kid cries, the world feels loud. You open it, you press the button, you do one minute of guided cyclic sighing, and you put the phone down. That's the whole app.

— What you'll never see from us —

• No streaks, no badges, no "you've used Exhale 47 days in a row." The press itself is never logged. • No rating slider before or after. We don't ask you to quantify what you just felt. • No history surface. No log of when you were stressed. • No push notifications beyond the one local reminder you schedule yourself. • No fear marketing about your body. No talk of cortisol, vagus nerve, sympathetic nervous system.

— What's inside —

• A short onboarding (language → three intro screens → five questions → a personalised plan → a live 60-second try) that earns the trial once. After that, the home screen is the button forever. • Cyclic sighing — two inhales through the nose, one long exhale through the mouth — based on the 2023 Stanford / Huberman Lab study (Balban et al., Cell Reports Medicine) that compared it head-to-head with box breathing and mindfulness for daily mood. Slow exhales recruit the baroreflex to slow the heart. • One optional local reminder per day. You pick the time. We do not move it. We do not nag. • Sign in with Apple (or stay anonymous). Account deletion is one tap.

— What it costs —

A short free trial, then a subscription. One paywall, one CTA, full price disclosed, one-tap Restore in the footer and in Settings. No exit-intent dialog, no scarcity timer.

— Honest claims —

Cyclic sighing has the strongest direct RCT evidence for sub-2-minute acute relief and beats box breathing and mindfulness head-to-head over 28 days of daily practice. The single-press acute use is plausible by mechanism (slowed exhale → baroreflex → lower heart rate within seconds), not yet RCT-proven on the 60-second timeline alone.

— From the maker —

I built Exhale because I needed something I could press once, without thinking, and have it work. Not a course. Not a community. Not a journal. A painkiller — open it, use it, close it.

Private by default. iPhone only.

— Exhale subscription —

• Exhale Monthly — $4.99 USD per month, auto-renewing • Exhale Annual — $24.99 USD per year, auto-renewing, with a one-week free trial for new subscribers

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription auto-renews at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you start a paid subscription. Prices may vary by region.
