WHAT IS HATCHED! Hatched! is a map-first journal for birdwatchers in the United States. Drop pins for the nests and sightings you choose to document, add species and field notes, attach a photo or a short video clip, and decide who gets to see each post—publicly on the map or only with people you have paired with. It is built as a native SwiftUI app for iPhone and iPad, with iCloud and CloudKit handling sync so your journal follows your Apple ID without a separate password.

GETTING STARTED • A friendly intro welcomes you before onboarding: set up your public-facing profile, confirm you meet the age requirement, and jump into the map when you are ready. • Adding a nest or sighting starts on the map or from your personal list; confirm coordinates, refine with search when it helps, and save with the visibility you want.

MAP & DISCOVERIES • Browse an interactive map of shared nests & sightings, open rich detail screens. • Plan observations with an intentional pin drop, keep coordinates readable at a glance, and see an automatic city and state line under the GPS values when geocoding succeeds. • Visibility cues tell you whether a post is meant for everyone or only your Pair Bond circle.

YOUR NEST CARDS • Capture stills, trimmed short video with audio when you want motion, or show both together on the same detail screen. • Species, notes, timestamps, likes, and threaded comments keep context and conversation attached to each sighting. • Edit nests you own, refresh media, and manage what stays public—all from flows designed for quick field use.

MY NESTS & ORGANIZATION • Review everything you have contributed in one list with thumbnails, quick navigation back to detail, and swipe-friendly actions so maintenance does not feel like chores.

PAIR BONDS & FEED • Send and manage Pair Bond requests, accept or decline incoming invitations, and cancel pending outbound invites from one hub. • A chronological feed surfaces new posts from accepted bonds so you are not scanning the entire map for friends’ updates. • Search watchers by display name, see whether you are already bonded, and open bonded profiles to browse their shared nests.

PROFILE & COMMUNITY • Display names, bios, and profile photos travel with you across bonds, feeds, and lists so the community feels personal, not anonymous. • Report content that violates guidelines, mute accounts you do not want to see, and rely on moderation workflows to keep pins trustworthy.

SUBSCRIPTION & ACCESS • Premium access may be offered through auto-renewing subscriptions (such as monthly and yearly options) with introductory pricing or trials when enabled in App Store Connect. Introductory offers and trial messaging, if available, are shown clearly at purchase time. Purchases and restores use StoreKit; manage or cancel under Settings ▸ Apple ID ▸ Subscriptions.
