Features & Capabilities

Don't move. Hold your phone still and watch ancient Japanese counters climb from "one" up to "incalculable infinity". A quiet space between meditation and play.

"Not moving" is a new way to play.

Ashimoto Zen is a minimalist meditation game where you accumulate "still time" by simply not moving your phone. It is not a rhythm game or a reflex game. Just hold your phone in your hand, and stay still.

— How It Works —

When you launch the game, you see your feet from a first-person bird's-eye view. Walking the wooden engawa, stepping stones, asphalt with white lines, tatami brick, gravel paths, mossy stones, a pilgrim trail, boats on the Ganges, the moon, and finally the world of "form is emptiness".

While the gyroscope keeps your phone within ±15° of the calibrated posture, your "still time" accumulates. The longer you can hold still, the higher the Japanese counter climbs:

one → ten → hundred → thousand → ten thousand → 100 million → trillion → 10^16 → 10^20 → ... → "incalculable infinity"

The final value is the Japanese Buddhist counter "Muryou-Taisuu" — meaning "an immeasurably large number".

— 10 Stages, About 12 Minutes Total —

Each stage lasts about 1 minute. Background music, footstep sounds, terrain, stride, and pace all change. The final stage "Form is Emptiness" features a 2:45 sutra-chant BGM finale.

— What is "Still Time"? —

It is the time you held your phone without moving. Use it during idle moments — waiting, commuting, before sleep, or whenever you want to focus. Becoming aware of stillness naturally calms your breathing and your mind.

— Privacy & Safety —

• No data is sent anywhere. All records stay on your device • No ads, no in-app purchases • Age 4+ • Anti-walking-while-using-phone reminders built in • Color-vision-friendly UI • Furigana mode (for children and learners of Japanese) • iPad Universal support • Available in Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese

— A Note from the Developer —

This app was created to give you a small moment to face your own mind through the practice of "not moving". It is the opposite of a hypercasual game — a quiet space. We hope you find your own meaning in the silent seconds.
