AfterSurg Outcomes

AfterSurg Outcomes is part of the AfterSurg platform—a family of digital health applications designed to measure recovery and treatment outcomes using real-world data, and to support patient experience and follow-up after interventions such as surgery. This version is tailored for clinical research and service evaluation, passively collecting activity data available on your smartphone to help clinicians and researchers understand how patients respond to treatment, without adding burden to daily life.

The app is intentionally blinded, meaning it does not provide visual feedback or insights to users. This ensures that data is collected objectively, without influencing behaviour or introducing bias. AfterSurg Outcomes can be used both prospectively and retrospectively. If you are invited to take part, you will be provided with a study ID, which configures the app for your specific situation. In some cases, you may also be given a participant ID. This allows the hosting clinical or research team to link your data to your care or study, while AfterSurg itself does not hold directly identifiable personal information.

AfterSurg Outcomes is a UKCA-marked Class I medical device, registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). All data is handled in accordance with GDPR and high standards of data protection. Information collected through the app may be pseudonymised, meaning it is not directly identifiable to individuals outside of the authorised clinical or research team responsible for your care or study. Data is used solely for approved clinical, research, or service evaluation purposes, and should not be used as a substitute for standard healthcare advice or follow-up.
