WhyHere

WhyHere helps you understand why a place, building, monument, or natural feature exists exactly where it is.

It doesn’t just tell you what you’re looking at. WhyHere explains the context, function, history, and geographical or cultural reasons behind what you see.

How it works 1. Take a photo or choose one from your gallery 2. WhyHere analyzes the image and its location 3. Get a clear, contextual explanation

What makes WhyHere different • Focuses on the “why”, not just the “what” • Uses location as meaning, not just metadata • Combines computer vision, geography, and history • Narrative explanations, not tourist bullet points • Works with famous landmarks and unknown places

What you can discover • Why a castle was built on that hill • Why a church, tower, or industrial building is located there • The historical role of a place within its territory • The relationship between nature, geography, and human activity • The cultural meaning behind landscapes and structures

Privacy first • Images are used only to process your request • Photos are never published or permanently stored • No account required for basic use

Who is WhyHere for? • Curious travelers • Students and history lovers • Hikers and nature enthusiasts • Anyone who wants to truly understand what they see

WhyHere is not a tourist guide. It’s not just image search. It’s a way to make sense of places.

Take a photo. Discover why it’s there.
