User Reviews

Text to Speech - SayTXT Reader is praised for free access, natural voices, and easy clipboard input with PDF and web reading. It supports multiple languages and accessibility features, and developers are responsive. However, several reviews report stability and reliability issues: difficulty pasting or importing text, the app sometimes skips or stops reading, and misreads contractions, apostrophes, or page numbers. PDF content extraction can be inconsistent. Overall, it's a strong, no-cost option for on-device TTS with notable bugs to fix.
Pros
  • Free, ad-free, and no subscription required.
  • Natural-sounding voices with a broad selection of speakers and multilingual support.
  • Easy input via clipboard paste, ability to save files, and good PDF/web page reading support.
  • Accessibility-friendly features and tools that help readers with dyslexia or reading disorders.
  • Active development and responsiveness from the developer with ongoing feature improvements.
Cons
  • Input/import limitations: difficulty pasting or importing text or many file types; works poorly with some inputs.
  • Stability and accuracy issues: app can jump around, stop reading, or misread contractions, apostrophes, and page numbers.
  • Inconsistent PDF/content extraction: uploading PDFs can fail to extract content or work unpredictably.
  • Occasional pronunciation quirks and punctuation handling that hinder understanding (e.g., mispronunciations).

App works as long as you only want it to read and not back up or pause. Buttons are non responsive for these and then suddenly it will jump from 20% read to 68% read and will not let you back up.
