User Reviews

Users largely report that Text To Speech – Audio Reader struggles with voice quality and customization, making it hard to understand and unsuitable for many tasks. Several reviews mention the app requires manual per-page scanning and OCR errors, with text occasionally misread. They request more voice options and reliable automatic scanning. Some positives include copy-and-paste input, adjustable speed, and a free version that allows multitasking by listening while doing chores. Main downsides are cost and reliability concerns.
Pros
  • Copy-and-paste text input works, making it easy to read copied chapters.
  • Ability to multitask by listening while doing chores.
  • Free version available and initially well-received.
  • Ability to adjust reading speed.
Cons
  • Voice quality is poor and often hard to understand.
  • Limited voice options or inability to change voice (no female voice).
  • OCR/text scanning accuracy is poor and can misread characters (e.g., i vs l).
  • Requires per-page scanning rather than automatic full-book reading.
  • Pay-per-week subscription with perceived limited functionality.

Scanned my pages and no matter how many times I pushed the play button, or swiped out of the app to start over it did nothing.

I had gotten this and just after listening to read my book I couldn’t even get past the first paragraph. The voices automated and this was just a no go for me. It didn’t give any other options as to a tone of voice to any other voice. and this is not what I was looking for. I was looking for a different type of app that will scan a book where I don’t have to sit there and scan each page individually to read it to me.
