PB Buddy is a lap timer app for HPDE and time trials.

It offers an easy-to-use, minimalist interface that allows you to focus on what matters most. The user experience has been crafted to work well for drivers of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned racers. The app has been tested at numerous Time Trials and helped set over a dozen class records across the US.

Easy to set up. The app walks you through the setup and explains how to use it. You don’t need to be an IT professional just to see your lap times.
Easy to use. Once the initial setup is complete, simply open the app, press the button to start recording, confirm the track, and you're ready to go!
Quickly get feedback on your current lap. Thanks to big, bright visual elements and fun, vibrant colors, you can easily see if you’re on a good lap or lost too much time to set a new personal best (PB). Forget counting the number of tiny LEDs!
Fast and targeted feedback. It’s too late to review data in the paddock if you only have one session in the morning when the conditions are best! With PB Buddy, you get instant feedback for each sector of the track (or even per corner!), so you can turn even a bad lap into an opportunity to try something new in that tricky corner you’re struggling with, and find another tenth of a second for your next hot lap.
YOU own your data. Export data for each session in CSV format compatible with many existing third-party apps, or export every byte recorded by the app in a developer-friendly format if you enjoy tinkering with data.
Supports most race tracks in the US, with more tracks and configurations coming soon.
Supports the built-in GPS receiver, but works best with third-party Bluetooth-enabled GPS devices.

I’ve been using PB buddy for about 5 track days now and I love it! No gimmicks, just what you need and a very usable interface.

In the past 10+ years, I tried various lap timers including Harry’s Lap Timer, AIM Solo 2 DL, and Garmin Catalyst. They each had pros and cons in terms usability, dependency on external devices, accuracy, and maybe most importantly availability. My use case is very simple. I want to be able to time my laps fairly accurately and review some basic data post track day, such as min/max speeds at each corner. In other words, I don’t (want to) spend hours on data analysis after each track day. Very simple ask right? Well… All of those lap timers I mentioned earlier let me down at track at least once. Either the device wouldn’t power on or it couldn’t get a gps signal or find the track. When I saw that PB Buddy offers similar live timing as Catalyst with color coded time deltas during a session and optimal time, I decided to give it a try. Because why not? Much less bulky, no cables needed, no camera required, just need my iphone and racebox mini. Super lightweight and easy to use setup. I’ve used it in multiple track days since last year and I love it. It’s continuously getting better and I’m sure there is a lot more to come. I personally cannot wait for some in-app data analysis even if it means just starting with some basic things like min/max speeds per lap per corner etc. maybe displayed on a map. Anyway… Just give it a try, you won’t regret it!

This app has been a game changer. The color gradient and sector splits allow you to very very quickly understand if you’re on a flyer and where you are losing or gaining time. It works so well in your peripheral compared to other lap times (cough cough aim) and I found myself getting immediate feedback on my lines/braking zones. This means immediate adjustments during your session rather than having to review the data in the hot pits. Cannot recommend PB Buddy enough and highly encourage everyone to give it a try at their next HPDE or TA event.
