UWE Act It Out

ACT It Out is a self-guided app-based course helping those who look different to manage psychological and social challenges, so they can live well. Designed for people with conditions or injuries that affect their appearance, ACT It Out helps you build skills to overcome common challenges associated with looking different, so you can do more of what you enjoy.

If you experience social anxiety, body image concerns, low self-esteem or other difficulties relating to your appearance, ACT It Out could be for you.

WHY CHOOSE ACT IT OUT?

ACT It Out was developed by health researchers and clinicians, with input from people with experience of living with an appearance-affecting condition or injury. It uses an evidence-based psychological approach called ACT, which stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. ACT helps you to accept yourself and commit to actions that fit with your goals, so you can live the life you want and have more time for the things you enjoy.

You’ll first learn the core ACT skills and how they can be used to overcome appearance related challenges, before you’re guided on using the skills to make lasting, positive changes in your life. Topics and skills include:
