Review summary

Players praise the addictive, HOMM3-inspired strategy and the nostalgic campaign, and they like the iOS port with hopes for future DLCs. However, a recurring pattern of startup/loading failures and a PC-to-iOS content gap (including Vanir DLC) hampers the overall experience. Stability and parity fixes are needed to fully realize the game’s potential on mobile.
Pros
  • Fun, addictive strategy gameplay with a HOMM3-like vibe.
  • Nostalgic campaign feel and solid core mechanics.
  • Positive iOS port with evident interest in including DLCs on iOS (long-term appeal).
Cons
  • Persistent loading/launch issues on iOS (booting fails or stuck on loading screens across multiple devices).
  • Content parity issues with PC (missing content and balance updates on iOS) and lack of Vanir DLC for the iOS version, with strong demand for mobile DLCs.

I am playing Song of Conquest on an iPhone 13 Pro Max (iOS 18.7.1). The game frequently crashes after about 30 minutes of gameplay, especially on maps with large map sizes. This issue happens consistently and seriously affects the experience. What is confusing is that Civilization VI, which is a much heavier and more demanding game, runs stable without any crashes on the same device. This makes me believe the problem lies in optimization or memory management of Song of Conquest on iOS. I strongly recommend the developers investigate and fix this crash issue, particularly for large maps, to improve stability and user experience.

The campaign is kinda short.
