Hot Spring® Spas

This is working much better than my old app. I am now able to adjust pH if needed from the app via some other upgrades. Luckily my spa was able to use the new system required to connect wirelessly as this one is 1000 times better than the old one. I only wish they added Bluetooth/speaker controls to the app.

The legacy app barely worked at all. The new application seems to actually connect, however gives conflicting information on “too high chlorine” when the panel says it’s way too low with the SmartIQ. It will randomly tell me that “water maintenance needed” but no clarification. The lights have 20, 40, 60, 80, 100% settings, but my tub only has three levels, so there is that disconnect. Not a decent value add-on at this time.

I just got the connected spa kit 2 and while the hardware seems great, this app is simply not programmed well. Well, I am able to successfully connect the hardware to my home network every single time I go to set up a Spa, the app never manages to finish making the connection and see that the device is on my home network. This is frustrating because after the device connects to your home network, it stops showing it its own Wi-Fi network to connect to. That means you have to reset the device to try the set up from the app again. However, no information is given about how to go about resetting the device, and it simply says “Contact Dealer”. But of course, my dealer has been given almost no information either. Luckily I know my way around ESP32 chips, and after a bit of spelunking, I was able to figure out how to reset the WiFi on my hardware device. (Hold 2 until flashing blue, press 2 twice until flashing purple, then hold 1 until flashing white and it resets.). Sadly, despite trying a dozen times or so to go through the setup from this App, I’m never able to successfully add a spa. Funny enough, I can easily query the device using CURL on my home network and get the status of the spa and IQ system. This app just appears to be awful. Hopefully Watkins fixes this issue soon. In the meantime, maybe I’ll just write my own app and/or Home Assistant integration. Let’s see how long it takes them to fix the issues.
