Features & Capabilities

DynamicDrive is a driving-telematics extension supported by Allstate and its affiliates that helps you monitor your behind-the-wheel behavior to become a safer driver.

It runs in the background to compute a driving score based on factors like time of day, phone distraction, hard braking, and speeding, and it provides detailed trip maps to review how often and how safely you drive. To get started, locate your insurer's activation code, connect the app to your policy, and accept the required permissions; you could be eligible for premium savings at renewal.

User Reviews

User reviews repeatedly flag Dynamic Drive as unreliable: misidentifies driver vs passenger, falsely flags phone use, and applies unfair, time-of-day–based penalties. Many report trips not recording, the app freezing or crashing, and poor support. Some acknowledge the concept of earning insurance discounts for safe driving, but overall reliability, accuracy, and privacy concerns dominate.
Pros
  • Designed to offer insurance discounts for safe driving.
  • Concept of automatic driving monitoring to promote safety.
  • Some users report that the app tracks driving and functions for at least some trips.
Cons
  • Inaccurate detection leading to mislabeling driver vs passenger and false phone events.
  • Unfair and inconsistent scoring based on time of day and phone use.
  • Trips not recorded or data missing; some trips aren’t saved or are hidden.
  • App reliability issues: freezing, crashes, and not recording trips properly.
  • Permissions/OS integration issues and privacy concerns (Motion & Fitness prompts, data monitoring).
Recent reviews
They say you only have to turn it on once a month and the app would not allow anything to happen if your location is not “always on” . So basically it’s always on . I drive a friends golf cart to work as we are golf cart zone and it thinks I’m driving my car although I’m passenger or in the rear of the cart

There’s nothing like this in my settings

13 mini iOS 26, does not have motion and fitness as an option. Motion is enabled and fitness is enabled but doesn’t have singular option for motion and fitness. App needs to go back to previous version, where it didn’t need this.
