Features & Capabilities

AARP Roadside Assistance by Allstate is a 24/7 emergency roadside app designed for AARP members. It lets you quickly request help for common car issues—dead battery, flat tire, out of fuel, lockout, and more—while leveraging GPS, maps, and satellite to pinpoint your vehicle.

The app guides you with a step-by-step dialogue to diagnose the problem and request the right service. You’ll receive a confirmation that help is on the way, plus an estimated time of arrival. Your AARP membership number confirms eligibility, and the app is free to use with your plan.

User Reviews

Overall, the reviews indicate the app is largely nonfunctional or retired. Frequent messages about expired memberships or redirects to a website, plus repeated login/service-request failures, force users to call the 800-number and endure long holds. The UX feels like a web page rather than a native app and needs a redesign. When service does engage, waits can be long and outcomes vary. Support is often slow or unhelpful, and billing/membership status is inconsistently reported.
Pros
  • When the service worked, roadside help was timely and helpful (e.g., quick driver arrivals and positive outcomes like Jack Rabbit assisting with a flat tire).
  • Historically, the app was described as easy to use and convenient for getting help.
Cons
  • Frequent membership status issues or retirement of the app, often showing expired memberships or directing users to a website.
  • In-app functionality is broken or limited: users cannot log in or request service and must call the 800 number with long hold times.
  • The app UX feels like a web page rather than a native app and is described as outdated, signaling a need for redesign.
  • Service delivery is slow and unreliable, with long waits and mixed outcomes (some drivers unable to tow or take hours to respond).
  • Customer support and account/billing handling are frequently unhelpful or hard to reach, with inconsistent membership status reporting.
Recent reviews
This app has major design issues. You first don’t login, you just give it your name and zip code. Since you don’t login, you can’t update payment methods or anything else. In order to do anything else, you must call their 800 number and be put on hold to wait for an agent. The app appears to take you to a web page. It doesn’t look like a normal app once you get in. They need to redesign it and make it part of the AARP app, instead of having a bunch of different apps.
