BCBS FEP Overseas is a mobile app for members to submit medical claims for services received outside the United States, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands—and for services while at a U.S. military base or on a cruise ship. If care was received elsewhere, you should submit the claim to your local Blue Cross Blue Shield plan.

Key features include an International Provider Finder with a guaranteed benefit (GOB); secure claim submission with a step-by-step wizard; translation tools with Medicine Equivalents and Medical Terms and Phrases in 14 languages with audio; and biometric login for quick, secure access. The app is powered by GeoBlue, the third‑party administrator for the FEP.

I cannot get registered to use the app. At the final step it declares that password has to be at least 10 characters etc. I tried several times including an auto generated strong password to no success.

Setting up this account was troublesome to say the least. But once setup, it is a breeze. I actually questioned how simple it was, compared to the nightmare of medical claims in the USA. The simplicity makes it look amateurish, but make no mistake, it works well. The only operational issue is that the server seems to go down in the early morning hours (maintenance?), which is annoying when you are still overseas. Overall: Operationally better than the domestic version despite the simplicity of design.
