tilencio is a medical smartphone app for the treatment of chronic tinnitus that reduces tinnitus distress and enables patients to better manage the condition.

Omnipresent - Tinnitus affects millions of people worldwide

Currently, more than 740 million people worldwide suffer from chronic tinnitus, including about 50 million patients in Europe. So far, there is no medical cure and in Germany, too, about 15-20% of the adult population is affected by tinnitus - about 3% severely to very severely - with frequency increasing with age. A doubling of prevalence is predicted by 2050.

Scientific evidence

Scientific studies show that combinations of different forms of therapy achieve significantly better results than single therapy approaches and thus enable a faster and greater reduction in tinnitus distress.

tilencio comprises the following modules:

Knowledge – the psychoeducational learning module conveys in-depth knowledge about tinnitus and a deeper understanding of the condition, supported by interactive quizzes to help those affected deal with tinnitus.

Exercises – up to 30% of all tinnitus symptoms are somatic, i.e. muscular tension in the neck and jaw area is responsible for the tinnitus. The module combines physiotherapeutic training videos in a 9-week course program.

Hearing – more than 50 natural and synthetic sounds – customizable to the individual tinnitus frequency – are available to stimulate the auditory nerve and mask the tinnitus frequency.

Tinnitus diary – Keep a diary of your personal tinnitus stress. A short questionnaire helps you each day to record your individual perception of tinnitus and its development over time. Track symptoms, recognize trends and triggers – become more aware of what stimulates your tinnitus.
