User Reviews

Final Cut Camera is praised for its intuitive UI and professional-feel output, yielding high-quality footage with good stabilization and a streamlined content-creation workflow. Users value its simplicity and MacBook compatibility, and many adopt it as their primary tool. However, recurring issues limit its reliability: settings frequently reset or fail to persist, Camera Control is incomplete (missing quick focus/zoom/exposure/white-balance control via hardware button), and ongoing bugs can cause footage loss or app freezes. Export/import friction with Final Cut Pro, plus lack of photo capabilities, further disrupts workflows. Overall strong concept with notable stability and feature gaps.
Pros
  • Intuitive, clean UI that is easy for content creation.
  • Produces high-quality, professional-feeling video with good stabilization.
  • Strong cross-device workflow; works well with MacBook and simplifies content creation.
  • Manual controls are available within the app, enabling more control than stock camera apps.
  • Widely favored as a primary tool for content creation due to usability.
Cons
  • Settings frequently reset or fail to persist across launches/backgrounding.
  • Camera Control is incomplete; hardware button cannot adjust focus, zoom, exposure, or white balance.
  • Bugs causing footage loss, freezing when stopping, crashes, and SSD connectivity issues.
  • Export/import workflow with Final Cut Pro is frustrating; not directly importable.
  • No option for still photos or photo editing; app focuses only on video.

When I use this app for creating my footage, I am constantly frustrated that I cannot control or preview this app from my Mac using iPhone mirroring - this is EXTREMELY frustrating. I do not understand why there isn’t a toggle in my settings to allow iPhone Mirroring to let me see the app UI or my footage from my Mac screen! At least give me the option. It can stream social media and videos, why not a live feed of Final Cut Camera? This app is TOO GOOD to not let me control it easier, guys. Come on there’s got to be a better way. Here’s the deal, Final Cut team... My iPhone 17 Pro (which I bought for this) is setup on a tripod with the screen facing the WALL in a corner of my room. Currently, I have to bend forward awkwardly and use a handheld mirror to see the phone screen while trying to frame my shot to make sure I’m in view, aim for the buttons on screen and hit them to record. After I’m done, I then have to aim for the buttons again to turn off the recording, and at this point I have to fully take the iPhone off its tripod (messing up my previous placement) just to send the footage over to my Mac via airdrop to check if the position of my tripod (which I just had to mess up to get my iPhone) was good and my lighting was correct. Then, I have to try my best to reset it before I record. Imagine if I could just… use my Mac with the iPhone Mirroring app to do all of this in like 5 seconds - AND allow me to use the AF Lock feature from my Mac to adjust my exposure and actually be able to adjust my settings which I can’t do because my iPhone is on a wall facing a tripod! This app feels like you guys made the PERFECT pro camera app only for me to not be able to use it effectively. I really hope this gets resolved so I can update this app to 5 stars, which it otherwise deserves.
