Overview

Features & Capabilities

ProMovie Recorder is a feature-rich video camera app for iPhone and iPad that puts advanced videography at your fingertips. It lets you take control of exposure, focus, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance, and switch between Ultra Wide, Wide, and Telephoto lenses to capture pro-quality clips. It supports 4K recording up to 120fps and 1080p up to 240fps with high-bitrate encoding.

Audio and accessory support amplify your productions with external mics, stereo recording, on-screen level indicators, audio monitoring, and optional gain. The app offers separate exposure and focus points, white balance presets, gray-card calibration, grids and cropping guides, full-screen modes, and both HEVC and H.264 encoding, plus stabilization modes. An in-app purchase removes the watermark for watermark-free recordings.

User Reviews

Overall, users praise ProMovie Recorder for ease of use, strong video quality and pro features, and solid mic support. They value screen/lens capture capabilities and affordable watermark removal. However, the app shows recurring concerns about watermark handling, UI/navigation quirks, and stability bugs (crashes and exposure/focus problems) that can degrade the experience. The app remains appealing to creators but reliability and UX gaps are common points of feedback.
Pros
  • Easy to use with a quick learning curve and minimal tutorials
  • High-quality video output with a broad set of pro features
  • Strong external microphone support and line-level input compatibility
  • Screen/lens capture features that reduce flicker and enable screen content capture
  • Watermark removal is available at a relatively low price (perceived as good value)
Cons
  • Watermark is displayed by default and removal costs some users consider a cash grab, though removal is available at a low price
  • UI/UX issues such as lack of an exit button and inconsistent half-screen display
  • Stability and reliability problems including crashes and issues with exposure lock/autofocus affecting video quality

The bar graph for checking the audio level seemed to stop working just after the latest iOS update. I’m not completely sure but this is not the first time that things have gone haywire with audio after an iOS update.

I generally love this love, but since I got the new 17 air my microphone will not work on the phone or the Bluetooth that i had before.
