Review summary
Pros
- Slick, well-designed UI/UX with professional, easy-to-follow breathwork sessions.
- Helpful introduction/onboarding and quick setup that lower the barrier to starting.
- Apple Watch integration with pulse display for real-time feedback.
- Short, varied sessions that fit into a busy schedule and can support sleep and relaxation benefits.
Cons
- High price with limited payment options (no monthly plan) and unclear upfront pricing.
- Lack of progress tracking or personalized level guidance; AI coach feels repetitive.
- Onboarding friction: non-skippable introductory video and a short trial window that pushes subscription.
- Connectivity and integration issues with devices (Garmin connection problems and intermittent Apple Watch syncing).
- Marketing claims about HRV-guided audio not reflected in the product (focus on classes/AI chat).

| 2026-06-30 | An***** | I had a coach point out to me that you can live for up to a couple weeks without food, days without water, but only minutes without air. Breathing well is critical not just for performance and growth but overall health. So I’ve been interested in breath work for a while but it was hard to find a simple and clear process to follow to see actual results. Five Point Five has filled that void. I now have a plan to follow and the consistency is paying off. I just finished my 200th session and notice a difference in my runs as well as my rest and recovery. It takes daily commitment, but the commitment is worth the investment. If you’re looking to dial in your breathing and take your performance and health to the next level, commit to a 90-day session and do the work…you won’t regret it. | |

| 2026-06-26 | Tr***** | Can’t justify paying $90/year for this. Not enough variety, integrations with Garmin barely work, and frankly just not worth the price. Free trial was only 2 days. | |

| 2026-06-24 | Al***** | There is minimal buffering on the app, if any. I can’t practice my breathwork in the car or on my commute, because it keeps stopping. Every other app has no problem. For example, Calm downloads an entire 10 minute meditation in roughly the first 19 seconds and therefore no problem. They have a lot of work to do on the app, but the breathwork classes are good for beginners. Too easy for experts, IMO. | |

| 2026-06-19 | Ar***** | Very happy with this app. I like having the workout plan to motivate me to use it consistently. I’d like to see more intermediate and advanced sessions. | |

| 2026-06-11 | He***** | I’ve been using this app for roughly 3 months to improve my performance. I compete in runs, Hyrox and other endurance events. Ever since I started using this app my runs and other races have felt easier than before, I’m also running PR’s consistently as well 💪🏽 | |

| 2026-06-10 | Gr***** | I never took this breathing stuff seriously until….I read an article that connected breathing exercises with improved HRV. So i decided to give 5.5 a shot. To my surprise, the exercises work. My HRV has increased from the low 30s to the low 40s! This after 100 days of exercise. I’m sold!!! | |
