User Reviews

Users praise Skeets as a Bluesky client that often performs better than the official app and aids accessibility, with responsive developer support. However, frequent bugs, disruptive popups, interaction-blocking UI, login/settings frustrations, and troublesome iPad-specific layout issues significantly hinder the experience.
Pros
  • Generally works better than the official Bluesky app and preserves feed position (hold-your-place in the timeline).
  • Accessibility benefits for voiceover users, making Bluesky more usable for visually impaired users.
  • Some positive UI improvements (e.g., photo rotation fixed) and overall potential of the app.
  • Notable developer responsiveness and willingness to engage with users.
Cons
  • Persistent disruptive popups and update nags (including tooltips) that cannot be closed, interrupting use.
  • Inability to tap or open usernames, hashtags, or URLs within posts, hindering interaction.
  • Instability and crashes (including posting crashes) and unreliable timeline behavior.
  • Login/session problems and settings that don’t persist (e.g., expired sessions, settings not saved).
  • iPad-specific UI/layout issues (new layout, horizontal scrolling frame, limited/awkward navigation) reducing usability.

I think this is just about the best bluesky app there is right now. But something is causing some really bad stuttering during the scroll. I’m not sure what. Admittedly I’m not on a very powerful iPhone (12 mini) but every other bluesky app scrolls perfectly. … also if bookmarks are to be a paid feature, we should have an option to just hide the button. It’s a little annoying. (didn’t they recently add native bookmarks to bluesky anyways? Shouldn’t we switch to those?) And finally, the ellipsis menu on posts are *way* too easy to trigger. If I tap to stop a scroll over one of those buttons it will open the menu. That shouldn’t be, buttons shouldn’t tap on scroll stop imo.

It works, but I haven’t found a compelling reason to use this over the official app. Also, charging for feature that are free on the official app, like post notifications, feels sleazy.
