User Reviews

User feedback centers on stability and maintenance concerns. While some praise Graysky for iPad-friendly UI and useful in-app translation of foreign language posts, the majority report persistent instability: many tabs show blank screens, the app crashes when using My feeds, and updates (notably iOS 26) leave most features unusable. Several reviewers note missing essentials like direct messages, saving posts, and PDS configuration. A few still see value as a Bluesky client and prefer its UI over competitors, but there is a strong sense that the app is abandoned or no longer reliably functional.
Pros
  • iPad-focused usability and appealing UI on iPad devices (noted as the reason it was valuable on iPad and still looks good on iPad mini)
  • in-app translation feature for foreign-language posts (reads translations within the app)
  • UI is preferred over certain Bluesky clients (e.g., OE) according to some users
  • some users consider Graysky a favorable Bluesky client compared to alternatives
Cons
  • most tabs show blank screens or fail to load, making the app largely unusable
  • after iOS 26, multiple features break or become unusable (compatibility issues)
  • the My Feeds button often crashes or exits the app
  • missing essential features like direct messages, saving posts, and configuring a PDS URL
  • perceived lack of ongoing maintenance or updates, with notes that it has been abandoned

I used to really love this app when it first came out because it was the only way you could actually access the app on an iPad. The fact that blue sky has now been out for almost 3 years and still hasn’t developed or made any progress towards making the official app available in the iPad is just lazy and disrespectful to the clientele. This app became completely unusable in my opinion once they started rolling out censorship and only allowing you to see one adult content at a time before the feed will glitch out and hide what you’re looking at. Now I can’t even save a simple photo of a cat drawing without it telling me that I don’t have the right permissions. Re-downloading the app changes nothing at all, very sad to see Twitter regain all the people who tried to jump ship to something else reliable. Fix Bluesky NOW

Really good, only things missing are saving posts and the ability to remove the ‘(tabs)’ text at the top

App should be OK but just doesn’t work. Biggest issue is no feeds are brought in from Bluesky. Tried log in/out, tried “de-pin/re-pin” feeds on Bluesky per some suggestion. Nothing works. Also couldn’t get to profile setitngs at one point without a force close & re-open. Also changing iPad from landscape to portrait caused screen rendering to get totally borked.
