Filmic Legacy is a Chrome extension available to filmmakers who paid for Filmic Pro v6 before August 25, 2022. It will continue to receive bug fixes but will not gain new features. It preserves the core Filmic Pro v6 experience with a responsive manual shooting workflow, true LOG gamma, and in-camera looks, adapted for Chrome workflows. Note that Multicam is not included; use the companion DoubleTake app for multicam needs.

This extension consolidates v6 banner features and foundation features such as dual arc sliders, live analytics (zebras, false color, focus peaking), Frame.io Camera to Cloud, 8-bit/10-bit support, ProRes on newer devices, multiple aspect ratios, gamma curve controls, and cloud-synced presets via FiLMiC Sync. It also supports external hardware and audio options, with sharing to iOS apps and various encoding options. Note that Multicam is not included; use DoubleTake for multicam needs.

Recent reviews

Looks like recording with Ext Mic has been disabled in one of the updates. Hope this is not a ploy to force us to upgrade even after paying for the original version which supported this feature. In particular, the record button doesn’t work when the Ext Mic is plugged in even though it is capturing sound, once disconnected the record button immediately works.

So even with the update, you expect that the audio works? It does except it doesn’t record the audio, even though it does appear to be. Why would you do this to legacy users? You’ve just updated the app two weeks ago and now you don’t seem to care about fixing it again even with those issues.

I’ve never seen an app owner get so greedy so quickly!! First they tried to make users SUBSCRIBE in order to save ANY video to the camera roll…but end users cried FOUL. So they released LEGACY, said they would no longer support it, but then released “UPDATES” that actually killed core functionality to force people onto their V7 SUBSCRIPTION PLATFORM. Sad. Really sad.
