Mobile Scan

Decent enough to use but the company has ignored two problems, number one the process for checking out. In theory, Mobile Scan users can jump to the front of any line and go right to a cashier or service desk in practice doing that will likely get you punched out. Second, by ignoring the auto focus feature on an iPhone developers have rendered it nearly useless. First time scans are a question of luck. the only way to get a good scan is to be able to estimate the distance to the barcode and only scan the item at that distance.

Because shop for one, I used to used this every time I went shopping, but no more. First of all, the current version does not want to constantly focus the camera on barcodes with my iPhone 13, making it difficult to use. Secondly, since the rollout of their big, heavy smart grocery carts, at last one store has stopped supporting the back-end connection that makes the app work. Used to be handy, now nearly worthless.

I love the idea of this app, and when you get the perfect focal length through your phone, it works great. But developer decided to not configure it with auto focusing on the lens. Update this app so the camera auto focuses and it’ll be amazing, five stars! Until then it’s barely usable.
