User Reviews

NotaryAct is widely praised for saving time, enabling fast data capture via ID scanning, and offering a secure, paperless journal with strong support. Users also value easy searchability and cross-device convenience. Common drawbacks center on pricing/trial clarity, missing iPad app support, and onboarding/purchasing friction. Overall, it’s seen as a key time-saver and professional tool for mobile notaries, with room to improve pricing transparency and multi-device support.
Pros
  • Saves significant time at the signing table and improves overall efficiency by reducing manual data entry.
  • ID/license scanning auto-populates fields, reducing handwriting and errors and speeding up the process.
  • Digital, portable journal stored on device with cloud backups for secure, permanent records (no need for paper).
  • Excellent customer support and willingness to provide training and assistance.
  • Strong searchability and organization of past entries, making it easy to retrieve records.
Cons
  • Pricing and trial information are unclear or criticized (desire for a longer or clearer trial and visible subscription pricing).
  • Lack of a dedicated iPad app / insufficient iPad-specific support noted by users who primarily work on iPad.
  • Onboarding and purchasing flow can be confusing or buggy (account creation issues and unclear purchasing process).

I’m in Alaska and I’m a very busy Mobile Notary. I use this app all the time. It’s the only journal I use. I’m able to take photos of the signer. Take photo of their ID. Take a photo of their thumbprint and it’s all saved right there. I’m able to go back and search really easily. I love it. This is a critical piece of my business.

The trial should be 5 entrys period. The 14 day thing is dumb when you first start out. I signed up the day my commission started on paper but I didn’t start till 2 months later not knowing it took the paperwork that long. So now my trial is up and I have zero journal entries. I will check out the other ejournal that I signed up for today to see if I like it and subscribe if so.

I’ve been using this app since COVID, it has eliminated the need for a paper journal at the point of signing, and confirms the ID is legit. I love this feature!!
