User Reviews

Reviews largely praise basic thermostat control and scheduling via Total Connect Comfort but coalesce around usability regressions since updates: extra taps to reach the thermostat, intrusive ads, and failure to remember the last device. Users report login issues, slower performance, and occasional unresponsiveness. Core functionality remains intact for many, but the user experience is hampered by navigation friction and ad-driven interruptions.
Pros
  • Provides full control of the thermostat via the app, including scheduling
  • Simple and functional interface that makes it easy to adjust settings and schedule
  • Reliable basic operation for common thermostat tasks
  • Notifies users about temperature-related issues (e.g., overheating)
Cons
  • Updated UI adds extra steps to reach the thermostat (multiple taps or menus) rather than opening directly
  • Intrusive pop-up ads and data collection concerns
  • App fails to remember the last-used device and often shows a list of devices instead of opening to the thermostat
  • Login/authentication problems after updates
  • App can be slow or unresponsive after layout updates, and sometimes ignores changes

We’ve recently purchased a 2-stage AC upgrade which included a Honeywell zone control board, RedlLink gateways, indoor and outdoor sensors, and two new Honeywell AIQ Presige thermostats. When we purchased our home 9 months ago, it also had a Honeywell Prestige thermostat and we used the same app. It is no better now than it was 9 months ago. Considering the technology, complexity and price of these components, the app interface is dated and underwhelming when compared to other competitor apps like Ecobee or Nest for example. The front end is reminiscent of something developed in the 1990s - clunky, non-intuitive, and horrible graphics. How about simply updating the GUI to a giant digital format like Ecobee or Nest and basically every other thermostat on the market today? Issues: 1. It loses remote connectivity occasionally. 2. It does not show status of 2 stage cooling and heating or provide feedback related to Redlink or sensors or control board. When can we expect this app to be upgraded to an app reflective of the price and sophistication of the actual Honeywell components?

I used to like the app, but over a year ago they added 3 layers of stupid menus before you can make a simple temperature change with the iPhone app. Happily they did not add that inconvenience to the iPad app. Other people have said that they should have an option to have a vacation setting for timetables and temperatures. I agree but I don’t think that will ever happen.
