User Reviews

Users find Food Intolerances helpful for managing histamine intolerance, MCAS, IBS, and elimination diets. It's easy to use, acts like a pocket nutritionist, and supports quick checks of what you can eat. The one-time PRO fee is attractive, and color-coded ratings plus a diary help planning. However, data inaccuracies and inconsistencies, unclear guidance, billing issues, and feature gaps are frequently noted. Overall it’s a useful tool with notable caveats about data quality and usability.
Pros
  • Easy to use for quick checks of what you can eat; especially helpful for histamine intolerance, MCAS, and IBS.
  • Supports elimination diets and helps identify triggers; many users report long-term usefulness and 'memory' of foods.
  • One-time PRO fee provides access to features without ongoing subscription.
  • Color-coded safety ratings and broad dietary coverage aid planning and shopping.
  • Includes a food diary/nutrition tracking feature to monitor daily intake.
Cons
  • Data accuracy and inconsistencies across foods (histamine, oxalates, salicylates) and several misclassifications.
  • Lack of clear guidance or a user guide; color meanings and usage are not explained.
  • Billing and pricing issues (charges beyond stated price, cancellation difficulties, limited customer support).
  • Gaps in the database and feature set (missing foods, no vitamins/supplements tracking, no export/print, limited cross-platform support).
  • Occasional bugs affecting data display (e.g., zero histamine for many foods).
Recent reviews
Several several years ago, I began to suffer from stuffy nose and headaches as a result of foods that I was eating and wine and beer. I had no idea what was causing this and no doctors could explain it to me. Slowly during a four or five year period, I was able to find a few mentions on the Internet relating to histamine intolerance. Then I found this app! It was a life changer for me. I was able to avoid pretty much all foods that caused the symptoms. I never would have suspected some of them as a problem, like something as common as pepper!! But I also kept searching for information regarding causation. One say I asked Google whether NSAIDs and decongestants harm gut bacteria. The answer was YES!!! I immediately stopped taking them and slowly my histamine intolerance went away. Today I don’t have any of the histamine intolerance symptoms. This app made my histamine intolerance manageable while I found the cause of my problems and cured my gut!

I’ve had this app for MANY years, and it is so helpful when I get weird symptoms or reactions and try to suss out the reasons. I’ve had many ‘ahah!’ Lightbulb moments due to this app. I have histamine issues and this app was my #1 tool in memorizing what was ok and what wasn’t. I’m very grateful because cutting certain foods has changed my life. Now I’m wrestling with new GI issues and this app has a starting role again as I do elimination diets. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
