User Reviews

Reviews praise Merriam-Webster as a comprehensive, reliable dictionary with etymologies and learning features like the word of the day, but multiple reviews flag intrusive ads and locked content as the main drawback. Overall, it’s a strong tool for vocabulary and study, though ad-supported pricing is a notable caveat.
Pros
  • Comprehensive resource with definitions, etymologies, semantics, and examples.
  • Word of the Day and other educational content that expand vocabulary and provide quick lessons.
  • Quizzes and games for learning and challenging yourself.
  • Reliable, fast access and user-friendly design that helps with homework and reading.
  • Large vocabulary with many entries and cross-references; often cited as having more entries than some competitors.
Cons
  • Ads and paywall presence can disrupt usage and lock features behind a paywall.

Dictionaries are supposed to be for quick reference. I couldn’t even look up a word without the whole screen going to an add. I waited 10 seconds without an option to skip before jumping to an alternative option

It’s a dictionary app for Pete sake. The amount of ads is ridiculous. Didn’t use to be like that but now it’s just too much. Deleting and going else where
