User Reviews

KidneyDiet is highly valued by CKD/dialysis users for tracking potassium, phosphorus, and protein, with an easy, all‑in‑one diary that helps stay within daily limits and reduces diet-related anxiety. Its strengths include clear nutrient breakdowns (plant vs. animal protein), and overall ease of use and usefulness for dialysis patients. Common drawbacks across reviews are stability issues after updates and crashes, a limited food database with many items missing, inconsistent serving units, troublesome favorites management, and onboarding/subscription frictions.
Pros
  • Helps CKD patients track potassium, phosphorus, and protein and stay within guidelines, improving health and well‑being.
  • All‑in‑one diary makes logging foods easy and shows daily totals against daily allowances.
  • Provides clear plant-based vs. animal-based protein breakdown and other nutrient insights.
  • Turns a scary CKD diet into something manageable and less overwhelming.
  • Valuable for dialysis patients and reviewers report it as essential and worth the cost.
Cons
  • Update-related instability: crashes, missing portion sizes, and difficulty adding items.
  • Limited food database with many common items absent; often requires manual entry.
  • Inconsistent serving size units (grams, cups, ounces) that make portions hard to gauge.
  • Favorites list issues: items automatically added, hard to delete, and a limit on saved items.
  • Trial/subscription onboarding frictions: no trial before creating an account and in‑app purchase/cancellation problems.

I just started using this app and am so glad I found it. It has been so good at helping me plan/shop for foods that fit within the CKD guidelines. Food tracking is pretty easy too. My only wish is that the Search feature was a little improved. Sometimes I’ve searched and gotten no results but when I enter the key words in another order, I get results. Not a deal killer just a wishlist item.

It won’t let me in past user name and password even after I verified my email address.
