User Reviews

User feedback shows Kidney Pal can help CKD management and meal tracking, and some users report it reduces the effort of calculating values. However, recurring problems include data inaccuracies and score changes after updates, onboarding/login friction, a sparse food database with limited logging and recipe search, and intermittent slow performance or bugs.
Pros
  • Helps manage CKD and supports lifestyle changes.
  • Reduces cognitive load by automating calculations and meal planning.
  • Solid meal/food tracking that helps monitor nutrient intake.
  • Valued by healthcare professionals (nephrologist and dietitians) who recommended it.
Cons
  • Inaccurate or inconsistent nutrition data and kidney-burden scoring, especially after updates.
  • Onboarding and login usability issues: difficult first use, setup resets, and occasional login failures.
  • Limited food database and logging: cannot log individual foods, no easy search for common foods, and recipe database is not easily accessible.
  • Slow performance and occasional bugs (e.g., internal errors when analyzing).

Noticed some Taco Bell foods are kidney safe vs others! Would like to see safer fast food alternatives for specific fast food restaurants. I am a nephrology nurse practitioner. Significant portion of the population I deal with rely on fast food occasionally due to cost/energy constraints

I just downloaded this app 3 days ago. It seems very useful and enjoyed the 3 days of usage. I keep getting a message to try PRO for free for “x” number of days. I am trying to enter food for lunch but I’m stuck in a loop. I do not want to try PRO for free. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but you should be able to decline trying PRO for free. I have since deleted the app.
