User Reviews

Jump Desktop is praised for reliability, ease of setup, and a smooth user experience, with strong cross-device support and a no-subscription price point. However, multiple reviews flag notable battery drain, a lack of recent updates, and intermittent connectivity issues with certain hosts. There are also concerns about iPad-specific input limitations. Overall, it’s a solid, value-forward remote-desktop solution for many users, but potential buyers should weigh maintenance/compatibility and battery impact against the benefits.
Pros
  • Reliable, stable performance with a smooth setup and intuitive controls.
  • Broad protocol support (RDP, VNC, Fluid) with good cross-device usability across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
  • One-time purchase with no ongoing subscription, offering perceived good value.
  • Consistent positive sentiment on overall usability and reliability, with users stating it 'just works' for their remote-desktop needs.
Cons
  • Significant battery drain, especially when running in the background or on mobile devices.
  • App appears to be aging with limited recent updates, raising concerns about security and compatibility.
  • Connectivity issues and unreliable connections with certain hosts (e.g., Mac, Linux) and occasional auto-reconnect behaviors.
  • iPad-specific input/gesture limitations and interface constraints (e.g., limited gesture modes, arrow-key behavior) that frustrate some users.

This app worked great until Mac released a patch for the Remote Desktop no-auth bug. Now, this app will not connect at all to any of my Remote Desktop enabled Macs. It hasn't been updated in 2 years so I anticipate this app is permanently broken. Do not buy.

With the latest update to MacOS, this can no longer VNC to the host. Since they have not done an update in two years to this app, one can only think this is abandonware.
