Build and present your story

Features & Capabilities

Keynote: Design Presentations is part of Apple Creator Studio, a powerful suite that helps you design, view, edit, and present stories across devices. Start with Apple-designed themes, add text, images, charts, and shapes, and bring your story to life with cinematic animations and transitions. Present from anywhere, including multi-presenter slideshows on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, or via iCloud on a PC.

Key features include a library of themes, PowerPoint import, flexible slide layouts and backgrounds, audio and video integration, and advanced graphics tools like background removal. Use Apple Pencil on iPad and see live previews as you animate. Share with anyone, export to common formats, and leverage Apple Intelligence tools for proofreading, rewriting, summarizing, and image generation. Some features require an Apple Intelligence-capable device.

User Reviews

Overall user sentiment is mixed. Pros include ease of use, the ability to create visually appealing slides, and solid cross-device syncing and Zoom collaboration. However, widespread concerns about subscription-based monetization, intrusive AI prompts, UI clutter, stability and collaboration issues, and notable feature gaps (captions overlay, image use, AirPlay) dominate the feedback, suggesting Keynote is becoming less reliable and less flexible for many users, with some longing for the pre-AI experience.
Pros
  • Easy to use interface that helps create visually stunning slides.
  • Produces high-quality, attractive slide decks.
  • Strong cross-device integration and collaboration (Mac/iOS/iPad; Zoom).
  • Very useful across typical presentation tasks.
Cons
  • Widespread monetization via subscriptions and AI features, with paywalls and persistent prompts.
  • UI clutter and non-intuitive changes, including many icons and an unremovable "Generate Presenter Notes" button.
  • Stability and collaboration issues such as glitches, crashes, and broken file management.
  • Removal of legacy features and missing capabilities (captions overlay for videos, using custom images, video editing controls; AirPlay limitations).
  • Perceived decline in feature parity and usability compared with rivals like PowerPoint.

I love Mac apps and have used them for years. The larders Keynote keeps crashing no matter what I try to do, usually when I am adding or deleting a slide. I am are it is a temporary glitch, but it makes it unusable.

Keynote is an excellent presentation app. It is easy to use, the slides look professional, and it works very well for creating clean, colorful, and visual presentations. I especially like how smoothly it handles images, graphics, and slide layouts. It helped me prepare engaging presentations that were easy to show and share. I highly recommend Keynote for anyone who wants to create strong and professional presentations.
