User Reviews

Overall, iMailG is praised for strong Gmail integration and a user-friendly, desktop-like interface that preserves Gmail features. However, reviews repeatedly cite issues: poor developer support, intrusive ads, unreliable push notifications, and insufficient maintenance, which undermine reliability. When it works, it offers a capable Gmail-centric experience; when it doesn’t, users report missed emails, login/outgoing-mail problems, and little responsiveness from the developers.
Pros
  • Excellent Gmail integration and direct access to Google apps from within iMailG; preserves Gmail features.
  • User-friendly, easy-to-read interface for reading and managing mail.
  • Desktop-like feature set and overall robustness, often preferred over the official Gmail app.
  • Long-standing, trusted option for Gmail users who have used it for years.
Cons
  • Poor or unresponsive developer support; limited responses to paying customers.
  • Intrusive ads and monetization issues; ads persist even after paying for ad-free; some paid features don’t work.
  • Unreliable push notifications across devices; frequent notification problems.
  • Lack of ongoing maintenance/updates leading to compatibility problems with current iOS versions and occasional login/outgoing-mail issues.

This used to be a great app for many years, but since it hasn’t been updated in 3 years, I can no longer send outgoing mail from within the app. I can only receive incoming mail. This started with recent updates to IOS 26. I contacted the developer and received no response.

I find IMAILG is my favorite email app. I especially like that you can search for a specific mail; search for all instances of that mail; then Select All and easily file them. Over the the past year the app hasn’t worked well consistently. I wasn’t able to access developer support to address the problem. Well … recently the developer has been very responsive ~~ the app works beautifully. Yay!
