User Reviews

Users praise eM Client for iOS for desktop‑like parity and a rich feature set (including PGP and multi‑account support) with strong cross‑device usability. However, repeated issues around slow performance, syncing/push problems, missing calendar features, IMAP setup difficulties, and occasional instability dominate the negatives. Overall, speed and reliability improvements, especially around calendar, syncing, and startup stability, would significantly boost the app's reception.
Pros
  • Desktop-like parity with the desktop app on iOS and easy migration, including importing accounts, signatures, and settings.
  • Broad feature set across email, calendar, notes, templates, and signatures with solid multi‑account support.
  • PGP encryption support for secure communications.
  • Good cross‑device usability, especially on iPad with work accounts.
Cons
  • Very slow performance: slow inbox updates, slow searches, and generally laggy operation.
  • Sync and push issues: unreliable push notifications, accounts dropping offline, and inconsistent syncing.
  • Missing or delayed calendar feature in early releases and ongoing lag in calendar implementation.
  • IMAP setup/configuration can be finicky or fail to connect.
  • Occasional instability: app won’t start or crashes intermittently.

gmail stalls out constantly. apple mail also bugs out all the time. but finally tried this one and what a breath of fresh air! it’s almost weird having a reliable email client :)

I've used em client on Windows since it began and pay for it. Great features and design. It is my favorite desktop email client by far. It is also quite good on Android. The iOS implementation which I run in iPad mini with iOS 26.6 is unusable. It freezes. It doesn't send emails reliably. It takes forever to download emails. It's formatting goes weird, with message headers in the account view inexplicably indented at random. I need a reliable, predictable, stable email client for my work. I'm very saddened that I have to go back to the inferior Gmail app. If anyone reads this, I suggest also that you find a way to implement the official Gmail API like Wundermail does. It will affect problems to do with aliases (across the desktop Windows environment too). Thanks to the team at em client, and I hope that you are able to get the iOS version to the same excellent standard of your Windows client.
