User Reviews
Pros
- Rich, data‑driven tracking across many workout types (time, calories, distance, HR, routes) with clear history and graphs.
- Strong device and sensor compatibility (iPhone, Apple Watch, Polar HR strap, other HR bands).
- Powerful customization and coaching features (custom routines, Siri control, auto‑pause).
- Easy setup and generally reliable for long‑term use with a lot of historical data.
- Effective route mapping and HR visualization for outdoor activities.
Cons
- HR zones and heart‑rate calculation can be confusing or inaccurate (Karvonen method issues, zone labeling not saved).
- Frequent connectivity issues with HR monitors (Apple Watch or chest straps) that disrupt workouts.
- Shift from a one‑time purchase to a subscription/ad‑supported model; users feel over‑charged or misled.
- Lack of Apple Health sync makes data hard to consolidate with other apps.
- UI/UX regressions after updates (watch display issues, pause/resume friction, occasional crashes) and related support frustrations.
Recent reviews
I have used this product since its inception to track my workouts and have zero complaints. looking back at the saved results, I have logged over 2000 workouts since 2010. It tracks the type of workout from weightlifting to elliptical to open outdoor activities (think yard work) to open indoor activities (think vacuuming or cleaning a bathroom). It tracks the amount of time, calories, and even effort. If you are outside, it will map your route.
The app works with my iPhone and my Apple Watch seamlessly. It also connects to my Polar Heart-rate monitor while it is connected to my elliptical.
Note: I do find the heart rate strap to be more accurate on the calorie burn than the watch, but you can choose whether the app uses the watch or strap for your heart rate tracking.
