Features & Capabilities

Rejsebillet is a Danish ticketing app for public transport. It lets you purchase one-time tickets, zone tickets, and commuter passes for bus, train, metro, and light rail across Denmark. If allowed, it can use your current location as the starting point for faster purchases.

Payments are supported via MobilePay, Apple Pay, or payment cards, with secure storage and quick access through biometrics or a PIN. To start using Rejsebillet you need to enter your phone number, and for commuter products you may need to provide name, email, and date of birth. Remember to purchase before you begin your journey. Rejsebillet is developed through collaboration between Rejsekort and Rejseplan A/S.

User Reviews

Reviews overwhelmingly highlight barriers for international users: sign-up and verification depend on Danish/EU phone numbers or IP, with SMS codes often not delivered; tourists can’t access ticketing. There are also issues with payment methods (Apple Pay) and payment flows, and some UX frictions (language switching, Live Activities, not remembering cards). A few positive notes exist, but the dominant sentiment is accessibility and reliability problems for non-Danish customers. Improvements needed: support international numbers, ensure SMS delivery, clarify upfront restrictions, and stabilize payments.
Pros
  • Some reviewers report the app works and can be used to purchase tickets.
  • There is at least one positive endorsement from a user (e.g., 'Great app! Thank you!').
Cons
  • International and non-Danish visitors cannot register due to phone-number/SMS verification barriers.
  • SMS verification often fails for international numbers; codes are not received or cause delays and account lockouts.
  • The app appears to require a Danish IP or Danish/EU phone numbers, effectively excluding tourists.
  • Payment options reliability is poor (Apple Pay not reliably supported or not available when expected).
  • UX friction and language issues (e.g., language switching to Danish at payment, live activities behavior, and not remembering cards) are repeatedly mentioned.
Recent reviews
Once someone explains how to use the app, it’s very easy to get around. Would be nice if there was a quick tutorial easily accessed from the home screen for tourists available in multiple languages that showed how to use the app. It could show examples of how it would work if you were going from, for example, Copenhagen to Roskilde and the Viking Ship museum.

The verification for me, being from the United States, was seamless. It is also easy to buy multiple tickets, which is more than I can say for the Finnish app (HSL). However, the map it provides is not very helpful. I found it easier to navigate to the actual stations using AppleMaps, then use Rejsebillet for buying the tickets.
