Civil Rights History America App – Nationwide Audio Tour of Civil Rights Landmarks

Be your own guide—and make history come alive.

The Civil Rights History America App is a student-led, self-guided audio tour experience that allows users to explore historic civil rights landmarks across the United States. From Washington, D.C. to cities in all 50 states, our app offers immersive stories that deliver history about slavery and the civil rights movement.

With each tour, listeners can:

  • Explore important sites and stories tied to civil rights struggles in communities across the country
  • Listen to original audio guides researched and narrated by high school students
  • Learn about key figures, events, and locations that have shaped America’s ongoing fight for justice

A few historical sites featured in our nationwide tour include:

  • 16th Street Baptist Church – Birmingham, Alabama
  • Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park – Atlanta, Georgia

Checking this out while listening to the DC City Cast podcast about it. Lived in DC since 84 and thought I was up on DC history but already learned something new. Worked on Lafayette Sq for two years, went to an exhibit on its history but this is first time hearing it was a slave trading post. Can’t wait to stroll over to U Street and use it there. Thanks!

Had an incredible time walking around DC during the fall with all of the incredible foliage and such while getting to learn some history to this city. So happy I heard about this app.
