User Reviews

MobileSheets on iOS is a powerfully flexible sheet-music manager with strong cross-platform syncing, robust library tools, and reliable performance for live use. Reviewers praise its depth—tags, setlists, virtual books, annotation workflows—and the active developer support. Yet stability issues persist, including crashes during annotation and a critical two-device two-way sync bug that can overwrite notes. It’s PDF-only, limiting other file types, and the UX can be non-intuitive for new users. Overall, it’s feature-rich for gigging musicians with some caveats to watch.
Pros
  • Extremely flexible and powerful library management with tags, setlists, collections, and virtual books.
  • Excellent cross-platform syncing and backups (Dropbox integration; parity across Windows, Android, and iOS).
  • Fast, responsive performance that works well even on older iPad hardware.
  • Robust annotation tools and PDF workflow, including annotation layers, camera scanning, and Apple Pencil support.
  • Very responsive developer support and frequent, transparent updates.
Cons
  • Bugs and stability issues, including crashes during annotation and editing.
  • Critical two-device two-way sync bug where annotations can overwrite or fail to sync between iPads.
  • PDF-only file support limits other formats (Word documents, images, etc.).
  • Not always intuitive at first; some UX quirks and a learning curve.
  • Sync/backup UX could be improved (no confirmation prompts; manual backup restoration can be fiddly).

Encountered several glitches. The slider bar at the bottom of the document that scrolls you through the pages of the song, sometimes gets stuck on and glitches with the image blocking a portion of your sheet music. Sometimes when you click on the screen to bring up the menu bar, it doesn’t work. Like for instance you need to make annotations quickly during rehearsal, and you can’t bring up the menu bar to do so. Four score is not buggy and seems to be stable after having switched to using that app. Fourscore is slightly less intuitive. But I will trade that for not having to deal with glitches or bugs. I gave MobileSheets a chance but four score is better.

This is a perfect app for church worship, integrates with Dropbox, and lets you make both set lists and collections. I am using it on an older iPad Pro because the so-called popular apps are very sluggish. This app is very fast and responsive regardless of the file size.

Three years in and I wouldn’t replace this app for anything. It is there at every performance. It is incredibly powerful and I use it very simply. I upload a photo or pdf of music, then can assign it to a genre, a composer, a setlist +++. I can trigger an audio recording if I forget the melody or want to play along for practice, or trigger a metronome. On occasion it will crash when entering annotations, and requires a very quick restart, but it has NEVER crashed on a gig when calling up a song or any of the sets that I have entered. If a bug is discovered, Mike has been very prompt at getting back to me, always. Almost forgot, there are regular upgrades, sometimes twice a month. Mike does not rest on his laurels. Get this app.
