User Reviews

Reviews largely flag reliability and compatibility problems (freezes, disconnects, and non-functional features) as major drawbacks. Positive notes focus on handheld mode, strong support, and potential workflow improvements when it works. Overall, Arsenal 2 shows promise for photographers with compatible gear, but stability and update issues significantly hinder consistent use.
Pros
  • Handheld mode works well and offers flexibility by allowing operation without a phone
  • Fast, responsive customer support and service quality reported by users
  • Potential to improve camera workflows and extend capabilities when the device connects with compatible gear
Cons
  • Frequent stability and connectivity issues: app often freezes, locks up, or loses connection with the camera
  • Long exposure and deep color features are buggy or non-functional despite updates and tickets
  • Cables are poor quality and can fail, causing intermittent disconnections
  • Compatibility gaps with newer camera models and slow/unclear support for updates
  • Usability and onboarding are weak: not very user-friendly and lacking solid guidance

iPad could use some more work. Needs to rotate with full view, at the rotation. Currently you have to till your head to see it correctly. If you rotate the iPad, you get a bad resolution.

The program is not user-friendly and I wouldn’t not recommend anybody to buy it

I had pretty much relegated my Canon R8 to the camera bag save for special occasions. For pretty much everything, my iPhone sufficed. I have a decent setup, highlighted by a Canon 200-800 lens. To say it is fiddly would be an understatement and it is work to get an image out of it. Then I discovered Arsenal Pro 2 and the Arsenal 2 software that turns my phone and R8 into, for me, a camera saver. Out of the box, I did a walkabout in my Old Town neighborhood. Then, just for kicks, I tried it with my 200-800. While I still have somewhat of a learning curve setting up native camera settings to optimize the images, I was literally able to get the package to perform like never before. The Arsenal works best when paired with this software and my iPhone, but there is a handheld mode that allows you to run sans phone…which for my walkabout - or for daily use - is perfect. Have not tried any of the stacking features next…but to this point, Arsenal has given my R8 a new lease on life…imagine if your iPhone camera was…a better camera. That is exactly what the Arsenal Pro 2 turns your mirrorless or DSLR camera into. Bravo. Keep up the good work.
