User Reviews

Users praise Breville+ for ease of use and diverse recipes, but the reviews frequently caution that migrating from the Joule app creates serious usability problems. The most common issues are device connectivity failures after updates, ongoing Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth problems, and frequent app crashes. Many users feel the old Joule app was essential and worry about deprecation without reliable migration. Overall sentiment is mixed: strong recipe content and beginner-friendly features remain, but the migration and reliability concerns dominate the user experience.
Pros
  • Easy to use and intuitive UI with straightforward controls.
  • Wide variety of high-quality recipes and clear cooking guidance.
  • Regular updates from Breville keep the app functional and relevant.
  • Maintains compatibility with older Joule sous vide devices and supports the Breville ecosystem.
  • Family-friendly and beginner-friendly, great for teaching others to cook.
Cons
  • Forced migration to Breville+ led to Joule devices failing to connect or becoming unusable; legacy Joule app support ended.
  • Ongoing Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth connectivity problems; devices not found or can't connect.
  • App reliability issues: crashes, disconnections, and 'Something went wrong' errors.
  • Inconsistent support across generations with unclear timelines for older appliances' compatibility.
  • Support and troubleshooting flow is poor; self-help articles are hard to navigate and bug reporting options are limited.

Can’t make my Joule sous vide connect to wifi (the password was correct), randomly loses connection to the Joule mentioning losing power (when I see the device on), simply worse experience. Bring the old one back.

The app is too complicated. They really just need to simplify things. I do not need a whole recipe. I just need my meat cooked with turbo. Simplify things for those of us who don’t care about a recipe.
