User Reviews

Pros: The Joule hardware is excellent and simple to use; the app allows remote control when it connects and provides helpful setup content. Cons: The app suffers from unstable connectivity, frequent restarts, and a lack of ongoing support (abandoned; Breville+ recommended). Users also dislike mandatory login and intrusive onboarding. Overall, hardware quality is high, but software reliability and maintenance are the main pain points.
Pros
  • The Joule hardware is excellent and simple to use.
  • When the app connects, it enables remote control/monitoring of the Joule.
  • The app provides helpful setup videos and instructional content.
Cons
  • Unreliable connectivity and frequent disconnections; requires killing/restarting the app to reconnect.
  • App is effectively abandoned with no ongoing updates; users are often advised to switch to Breville+.
  • Login/authentication requirement is a headache and there are requests to remove it.
  • Intrusive onboarding prompts, forced recipe selection, and banners/popups hinder quick usage.
  • General performance issues: slow to connect, timer control often fails, and end-of-cook stop can be unreliable.

Your deleting the only app my iPad works with because it’s old. Now what do I do?????

I know how to sous vide. I just want to set the temp and time. Everyone know how to sous vide - google and AI exist. With this I have to answer 99999 questions before I’m forced to make a choice which may not be exactly what I want. Not to mention give my email, sign in, etc. if it was simple I’d give five stars. But the hassle, oooof.

Did the app work? Yes, that’s why it doesn’t have 1 star. But it was a maze of pop up adds, banners alerts and all kinda of nonsense just to turn on and use my sous vide. They literally forced me to pick a recipe to cook at first, so I “cooked” burgers. Eventually I fought through the junk and was able to set the temp on my machine but that really shouldn’t have taken 5-10 minutes after pairing
